Have you tried the “Indian Oiling Method?"

Have you tried the “Indian Oiling Method?"

Ladies,

Let's talk Oils. I love oils especially oils that help improve my hair quality. I tend to suffer from dry and brittle hair. My hair tends to not retain moisture very well. This year I want to do something about that. I would like to see a decent jump in hair length. I have been doing some research so that you don't have to and discovered my pathway to hair length is in oils.

The answer may possibly be in the Indian oiling method. Oh, let me explain. This is for those ladies who would like to go on this challenge with me to grow your hair by retaining moisture. How? The Indian oiling method incorporates methodology from the LOC method. LOC method stand for Liquid, Oil and Conditioner. This is the specific sequence that has been identified to help lock in moisture. Where the Indian oiling method differs is incorporating shampoo, condition and then oil. Let's go deeper.

The Method:

  1. Shampoo

Pre-Poo your hair, add your favorite oils on your hair night before wash day. This helps add moisture back into the hair before it is stripped out during the shampooing. Some women dilute the shampoo or some only use diluted apple cider vinegar and shampoo. For me, I modified this step and do a co-wash and then to test out the rice water rinse after shampooing. If you choose to do that way, you can skip the conditioning step.

  1. Condition

Apply your favorite conditioner either the rinse out and/or leave in conditioner. Make sure you pay close attention to the hair shaft and not the scalp.

  1. Oiling

This month we have been focusing on oils and their benefits. It is important to know what your hair is thirsty for and develop an oil cocktail for your hair to enjoy. Divide your hair into sections and use your oil cocktail to oil the hair. Try a light leave in conditioner and if severely dry I use a thick leave in conditioner. Seal with a moisturizer and braid or twist till hair dries. Apply oil cocktail sparingly throughout the week until your next wash day.

My favorite oil cocktail is jojoba oil, castor oil and coconut oil. Check out our Facebook page to see more oil benefits to help you discover your oil cocktail. You can get my favorite coconut oil below and also one of my favorite oil product.  I will begin using the Indian Oiling method and will check my hair length in 4 months. Let me know in the comments if you have tried this method or tested the rice water? Have you had less hair shedding or breakage? Let's chat!
